The solar panels will absorb the solar energy and then convert them into electricity .This electricity is stored in battery. This is the reason for slow degeneration in cars and other types of lead acid batteries.

Lead acid batteries are quite expensive and require more number of materials and energy for manufacturing. A better idea to increase the life of these batteries is to use a solar charge controller. If you buy a cheap solar charge controller, then you will have low battery life, and if you want more life for your battery, then you should go for an expensive one. You will have to replace the batteries soon if you buy a cheap controller. And sometimes you also might have to change the charge controller. So if you buy a good solar charge controller, then you will get more peace of mind and you can do more savings.
