Grid-Tied Solar Power Systems
A solar grid-tied system is a system which will allow the house owner in generating and using his solar power for his power requirements as a supplement for the electric power. These grids serve you in several ways. You need not pay your electric bills monthly which might empty your pockets sometimes, and also the solar energy is a renewable energy source, which is readily available.
Generally there are 2 different types of packs are available in the solar grid-tied system. The first one is a system with a battery backup and the second one is a system without a battery backup. In the system with battery backup, you can store the solar energy inside them but you cannot use them now, you can use them in future when you are in need of it.
The main advantages of the system with a battery backup are given.
1) You can save a lot of money by using this system. This system costs very less than the power you get from the electric company.
2) There will not be any interruption in the power supply whether it may be night or day.
The main disadvantages of this system are also given.
1) You will have to invest some of your money on buying the charge controller, battery housing and the batteries mainly.
2) You need to maintain it properly. More importance should be given to the maintenance of the system whereas the system with battery backup does not require this much maintenance.
The grid-tie system is very flexible one. You can start off with minimum investment by buying only one solar panel for your home and then increase them according to your requirements and the money you have with you. But if you use more number of solar panels, then you can save more money.
One of the best advantages of the grid-tie system is the solar net-metering .In the solar net-metering system; the owner can sell the excess power to the local electric power supply services. The electric meter will show the credit the owner has gained by selling the power to the local utility. The net-metering system is getting popular nowadays. Some states are using the services and some feel that the solar power is not that effective. There are many paper works to be done and many procedures to be followed for availing this service.
